Hibiscus Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 4 hibiscus tea bags (or 1 cup dried hibiscus dried flowers (Jamaica))
To Make the Cocktail
- ½ cup ice cubes
- 2 ounces silver tequila
- 2 ounce hibiscus syrup
- 2 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1 ounce triple sec
- Garnish with hibiscus flower or lime cut in wheels optional
To Make the Hibiscus Syrup
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar and bring to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat.
Add 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers or 4 hibiscus tea bags to the hot water and let steep for 10 minutes.
Strain the flowers or remove the tea bags, and let the syrup cool. It will keep for up to 1 week in the refrigerator.
To Make the Cocktail
Add the 1 cup ice to a cocktail shaker and then add the 4 oz tequila, 2 oz hibiscus syrup, 1 oz lime juice and 1 oz triple sec.
Cover and shake well for about 5 seconds.
Pour the drink, including the ice, into a margarita or cocktail glass.
