Habanero Salsa + Mayo = Magic!

Portrait of Ana Frias

This Habanero Mayo is bold, creamy, and adds just the right kick to any Mexican dish. It’s quick to make and instantly takes tacos, tostadas, and tortas to the next level!

I make it to drizzle over Mexican dishes that call for crema, but it’s also delicious as a spread on tortas, sandwiches, burgers and as a dip for veggies.

You only need 4 ingredients to make this : store bought black habanero salsa, mayonnaise, fresh lime juice, and granulated garlic.

Ingredients notes:

Habanero Mayo is made with just a few pantry-friendly ingredients that create an intensely savory swirl of flavor.

  • Mayo. You can use regular mayonnaise or miracle whip, or even a vegan mayo.
  • Black Habanero Salsa. This store bought ingredients is delicious and perfect for seafood dishes straight out of the bottle. However, if you mix it with mayo, it makes an incredibly amazing spread!
  • The garlic granules. You can also use garlic powder but since I live in a very humid place, I use granules as it doesn’t turn into a rock!

How To Make It

Making this deliciously sauce couldn’t be easier. You’ll find the full recipe below with step-by-step instructions, but here’s some notes.

Thoroughly combine all ingredients in a bowl. Then, refrigerate for at least half an hour — this will allow time for the flavors to develop fully. The result is a zesty spread with a wonderfully velvety consistency.

Tips and Notes

  • Make ahead: This Habanero Mayonnaise will last 7-10 days in the fridge so make it based on when you might need it.
  • Adjust the Spice Level – If you’re not too sure how spicy you would like it, start with a small amount of salsa and add more as needed. Some brands are much spicier than others.
  • Mix Well – Stir thoroughly or blend for a smoother consistency. This helps the flavors combine evenly.
  • Use the Right Mayo – I like to use light mayo to reduce calories but you may use full-fat mayo if you prefer.
