A delicious Licuados De Platano (Banana Smoothie) to start your day off on the right foot!  Made with old fashioned oats, Greek yogurt and Bananas. This healthy breakfast is a great recipe to keep handy when you want something quick and nutritious.

Enjoy this creamy & delicious drink just as much as you love my creamy Horchata. I guarantee it’ll be your favorite morning smoothie.

Licuado De Platano

Licuados are very popular in Mexico and can be found all over town but specially in “El Centro” (City Center) where the mornings are busy with people buying the meats and vegetables for the day. Other popular drinks that you can find in the same spot are agua frescas like Agua De Piña and Agua De Pepino.

I like to add oatmeal to keep us feeling full longer plus it’s a great way to get additional fiber. Adding nonfat plain Greek yogurt is optional but it adds a high dose of protein! Something to keep in mind ? .

Ingredients

Bananas with milk go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. So let’s make them into a smoothie! You don’t need much, just pick and choose the ingredients you have at home.

  • 1 large banana fresh or frozen
  • 8 oz cold milk (use your preferred milk)
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon plus more to garnish
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt optional (my favorite brand is from Trader Joes due to the mild flavor)
  • 1 Natural Sweetener packet or more to taste
  • ½ cup ice optional

Steps to make Licuados

Making a smoothie is very simple! Just add all of your ingredients into a blender and mix for about 1 minute or until desired consistency has been reached.

The beauty of making this smoothie is that you can substitute any fruit you may have in hand. The key is you to add fruit, and oatmeal for a fiber loaded breakfast!

Make ahead: You can make this the night before and have it ready for the next day.
