I would say that mango is one of my favorite fruit (next to bananas & watermelon), so it was about time that I shared with you my delicious agua fresca de mango! If you have ripe mangoes available where you live, this is a must make recipe! Everyone in the family will love it as its refreshing and delicious.

This drink can be served with meals, an afternoon snack, a summer night-time patio-sitting treat, or honestly… second breakfast? You can just add a scoop of protein powder for a creamy and nutritious version.

It’s sweet but it’s also light and refreshing, especially if you get extra friendly with the lime juice and maybe even go rogue with some fresh mint or basil additions. I mean… you wouldn’t be wrong.

Ana’s Tips and Notes

  • You can use a lemon instead of a lime
  • This recipe makes about 8 – 8 oz servingsw depending on the size of your mangos. It can easily be doubled if needed!

How to Choose a Mango

  1. Color: Look for a mango with vibrant colors, such as shades of red, orange, or yellow, depending on the variety. Avoid green mangos, as they are usually unripe.
  2. Firmness: Gently squeeze the mango to assess its firmness. A ripe mango should yield slightly to pressure, but it shouldn’t be too soft or mushy.
  3. Smell: Give the mango a sniff near the stem end. A ripe mango will have a sweet and fragrant aroma at the stem. If it doesn’t have a scent, it may not be ripe yet.
  4. Texture: Check for any soft spots or bruising on the mango’s skin. A ripe mango should have smooth, unblemished skin.

I love mango. I blame it on my Philippino heritage, where this obsession was born. Thanks for this recipe!
