Select your pineapple
Since the fruit is the main star of the drink, it must be freshest and ripest you can find. Follow these key points when selecting the perfect ripe pineapple at the market.
- The Color : It must be vibrant with a yellow rind and not green plus have healthy green leaves.
- Firmness: Ripe pineapples should have a firm shell that is slightly soft when squeezed.
- Smell: Ripe pineapples will have a sweet smell at the base of the fruit and a very pineapple-y smell!
How To Slice A Pineapple
Equipment
- Cutting board – Use a large one that is solid so that it doesn’t slip around when slicing.
- The knife – Make sure it’s large and preferably a sharp chef’s knife
- Container – A large bowl to transfer to after cutting.
Step by step photos
- Lay the pineapple side down on the cutting board, and cut the green crown of the pineapple then the bottom of the pineapple.
- Cut the pineapple in the middle lengthwise.
3. Cut vertically straight through the core (center) of the pineapple. And then cut each half in half again, leaving you with four equal pieces.
4. Remove the core off by slicing in the middle and in an angle of each fourth and into wedges.
What can I do with the core?
Chop the core into 2-inch squares, freeze them and then use them as ice cubes in water or adult beverages! They will infuse a of flavor into your drinks.

Storing and Freezing Tips

- Freezer. You can also freeze the pineapple chunks. Cut it into chunks and place in an airtight container or freezer zip top bag in your freezer.
