Whether you’re looking for breakfast recipes to satisfy your cravings, these staple Mexican breakfast favorites are good at any time of the day.

Typical Mexican Breakfast

Basically what comes most often in a Mexican breakfast are: beans, eggs, and tortillas. For example, a couple of scrambled eggs with chiles, onion and tomato (Mexican style eggs) with beans and their tortillas on the side. A good salsa is also a must! Or it can be a couple of fried or scrambled eggs in a red or green salsa with beans and tortillas.

Adding another type of protein to scrambled eggs like chorizo, bacon or ham and cheese is a popular option too. Egg burritos, Chilaquiles, molletes, and tamales are also eaten for breakfast.

For drinks: you’ll have Cafe De Olla, fruit and vegetable juices (usually orange with carrots), chocolate milk (we call it chocomilk!). And there are those who prefer to have something more “American style” for breakfast: pancakes with honey, waffles with fruit, yogurt with granola or simply cereal with milk.
