Antojitos
Mexican Antojitos are not fancy food. They mean “little cravings”…..These are the foods Mexican people grow up eating from street carts, corner stands, cenadurias and home kitchens. No special occasion required. Cravings for real flavor are reason enough.
Most antojitos start with corn masa. From there, things get shaped, pressed, filled, fried, grilled, or steamed. Sopes stay thick and sturdy. Gorditas puff up and get sliced open. Tlacoyos stretch into oval shapes and get stuffed before cooking. Tostadas turn crisp and become a base for whatever toppings are nearby. Same ingredient, totally different result.
The toppings stay familiar: beans, shredded meat, fresh cheese, lettuce, crema, salsa; nothing complicated but each layer adds so much flavor and texture! Some add richness, some add heat, some cool things down. You can spot a good antojito stand by how balanced everything looks before the first bite.

What are the most popular Mexican antojitos?
Naming all Mexican antojitos would be impossible, so although I would love to name each and every one, I made a selection of the most popular ones that are widely consumed in Mexico.
Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food:
1. Tacos Dorados
Don’t forget to serve these tacos with my delicious consome!
Tacos Dorados (Crunchy Tacos)
Tacos Dorados are among my favorite Mexican food! They have a unique texture and taste with so many flavors combined. You can add your favorite filling and just make sure you make 3 to 4 per people. Everyone will want more!
So many ways to top these with. Pick your favorite meat or veggies and enjoy!
Sopes
Learn how to make Mexican Sopes with a slight crunch on the outside and a soft texture on the inside. Add your favorite toppings to make a complete delicious meal.
Make these Tlacoyos and enjoy all of the classic Mexican flavors you like! It's like an extra-thick corn tortilla with a filling then topped with salsa or anything you like. So good!
Gorditas are a popular Mexican dish made out of masa harina. Thick, handmade cornmeal (masa harina) flatbreads that are stuffed with a variety of savory fillings and then griddled or lightly fried until golden brown.
Pambazos are a mouth watering Mexican sandwich stuffed with a mixture of potatoes and chorizo, lettuce, crumbled queso & crema. The bread is covered in a delicious guajillo salsa and crisped to perfection. Irresistible!
This Tacos De Carnitas recipe may well be the most tender, moist, and flavorful you’ve ever had! High returns for minimal effort. The pork is cooked in the oven (versus deep fried in lard) until the meat pulls apart effortlessly.
Tortas De Cochinita Pibil are a combination of super tender pork pibil between two toasty buns and layered with pickled onions, jalapeños and avocado. They're messy, delicious and irresistible!
What makes antojitos special is how they fit into real life. You eat them standing up. You eat them late. You eat them with friends, kids running around, salsa dripping down your hands. One turns into two, then someone says “just one more” and orders another round.
So tell me, which Antojito are you craving right now?
